LOMO Round Fronts are full of character and, when serviced properly, are extremely usable. They are Soviet made lenses from the 1970’s with a 2x squeeze. Sharp on centre with softness increasing steadily towards the corners they don’t suffer from the varied squeeze ratio that some old anamorphics do meaning no “mumps”.
They have a gorgeous 3d bokeh that’s very painterly and flare in a beautiful, organic way with soft blooming and streaking with point sources. They were the base lenses that Vantage used in Hawk C Series APLs and ours are all retro fitted with the Arma Cine Orbital system allowing the use of clip-on matte boxes.
