Master Primes are the culmination of the ARRI/Zeiss partnership and are an incredible feat of engineering. They have virtually no distortion, breathing or abberations but that doesn’t mean they’ve got no character. They have a beautiful focus rolloff and super smooth bokeh and really do sing wide open. Slightly warm tone and beautiful controlled flares.
A favourite of Roger Deakins and Emmanuel Lubezki…they’ve shot a couple of alright films between them.
Released in 2005 which is unbeleivably now twenty years ago!
