Car Share – Goodnight Vienna for BBC One
Director: Peter Kay
DOP: Jeremy Hewson
Although a simple premise, the technical rig required to film this production wasn’t quite as straight-forward. To capture Peter Kay & Sian Gibson’s in car conversations, we were asked to build a bespoke in car rig. A mixture of custom PL mounted C100s & C300s were chosen due to their size, functionality and Super 35 sized sensor. One camera position shot through a bespoke mirror rig to enable use of a longer lenses matching depth of field with the other cameras. Focus and aperture were controlled wirelessly by three focus pullers who were based in a scanner truck that also towed the kit laden car. Sound Devices Pix260s were used to enable recording at higher data rates than the cameras would natively allow.
Equipment supplied: 2x Canon C300 PL mount, 3x Canon C100 custom PL mount, Zeiss Superspeed & Standard speed lenses, Sound Devices Pix260i recorders, Arri WCU/UMC-4 lens control systems
